Had a friend help me out with this one, so this isn't all just from me, but the sentiment is pretty clear, and worst of all, it doesn't even scratch the surface of the many problems of Sonic Boom.

In fairness even the more serious variations of Sonic like X and Satam were rather formula driven. It's just another character chemistry, lots of cartoons have that whole friendly enemy thing. I do admit Boom does over milk it, and several other cliches, but again, it's not a problem exclusive to that one show.
Look at how often Satam was slowed down so Sonic could argue with Sally over his being reckless or get pissy with Antoine over his slapstick buffoonery.
Look at how often X had Chris lamenting his bond with Sonic or Amy fawning over him.
Look at how often AoSth had the whole Bugs vs Elmer thing with Sonic and Robotnik's henchbots.
Almost EVERY damn version of Sonic has the problem of having a decent gimmick between the cast and then milking it past it's entertainment value, usually at the expense of developing other things.
